Chasing the Exceptional
I photograph landscapes at moments when light, atmosphere, and nature briefly come together in ways that may never be repeated.
Based in Guatemala, much of my work has been shaped by the extraordinary landscapes of my home country—from active volcanoes and highland lakes to tropical forests and the changing skies above them. Travel has taken that exploration beyond Guatemala, but the pursuit remains the same: to witness and preserve moments that are fleeting, authentic, and impossible to recreate.
ARTIST STATEMENT
The Moment Before It Disappears
My photographs often begin long before I press the shutter. They begin with observation, research, patience, and sometimes repeated attempts to be in the right place when conditions finally align.
I am particularly drawn to landscapes in transition: an eruption illuminating the night, clouds transforming a familiar mountain, the last light crossing a lake, or an atmospheric event that exists for only a few minutes.
Photography allows me to preserve these moments beyond their brief existence. My intention is not simply to document what a place looks like, but to convey what it felt like to stand there when something extraordinary happened.
